Hi! I'm Ben, a versatile game designer with a burning hunger to make video games!
Making games isn't just my profession, or my passion.. it's an important part of my life.

Over the last 3 years I have created multiple indie games: At Bywonics, a small family business, I was able to release my first title - a mobile strategy game; and at Oppolyon I developed my first commercial release on steam; Ascending Inferno

I am also a graduate of the AIE, with an Advanced Diploma of Game Design and Production and a Graduate Diploma in Management Learning.

I have a strong focus in technical design, and love prototyping all of my game mechanics. My passion is in designing & prototyping modular game systems that allow the player the opportunity to get creative.
I also love to balance systems, primarily using google sheets to create large spreadsheets where I map all game elements to various numeric relationships.

A 2-4 player chaotic couch party game. Take on the role of genius mice engineers as you compete to make the best battle bot & smash it out in the arena!

Awards: Most Impressive Game Award

My roles on the project included:
- Technical & System designer on the project.
- Responsible for designing core gameplay mechanics & developing battle bot components.
- Creating power curves in excel for use in balancing.
- Responsible for the 'juice' and making sure the game provided enough feedback to the player.
- Programming many of the battlebot components

Ascending Inferno

A tricky precision platformer with a simple objective: can you kick your brothers soul out of hell?

Awards: Screen Aus Game & Production Grant, Winner of the Aus Indie Showcase at PAX Aus

My roles on the project included:
- Solo programmer on the project working in blueprint and C++.
- Lead system designer working on character controls & meta game systems.
- Held numerous playtesting sessions with the public for use in balance & UX.

Ascending Inferno released on steam in October 2024!

Soul Trader

A turn based roguelike deck builder where you play as a necromancer attending a necromancer convention!

I worked on this project for 1 year with a small indie team. Soul Trader is set to release on steam in March 2025!

My roles on the project include:
- Designing and balancing the 100+ cards available in the game
- Programming of the Narrative system within the game
- 3d Modelling of the characters and environment level design
- Held playtesting sessions for balancing game difficulty.
